Coinbase Canada is seeking a Head of Finance, Canada to lead the financial and regulatory reporting function for our Canadian regulated business. Reporting to the Director of Reporting and Technical Policy within the Accounting organization, you will serve as the enterprise Finance authority for Canadian reporting, regulatory capital, and OSC and CIRO submissions.
This strategic leadership role defines the target-state operating model, sets scalable reporting and control standards, and represents Finance with senior leaders, the Board, the OSC, and CIRO. The role requires direct ownership of both Form 31-103F1 and CIRO Form 1, from data sourcing through review, submission, and remediation.
What You’ll Do- Own the strategy, governance, and process architecture for Coinbase Canada’s financial and regulatory reporting function.
- Lead audit-ready preparation of Form 31-103F1, CIRO Form 1, and applicable OSC and CIRO submissions.
- Set standards for IFRS books, parallel ledgers, reconciliations, capital calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Represent Finance in OSC and CIRO examinations, inquiries, meetings, filings, and remediation matters.
- Advise executives and the Board on financial performance, regulatory capital, liquidity, control health, and emerging risks.
- Partner across Tax, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Product, and Technology to align reporting, capital, liquidity, and strategy.
- Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, outsourced-provider governance, and KPI/SLA accountability.
- Drive responsible automation and AI adoption that improves reporting quality, efficiency, control effectiveness, and auditability.
- 13+ years of progressive finance, accounting, or regulatory reporting experience within a Canadian investment dealer, securities dealer, bank, fintech, regulator, or professional services firm.
- 5+ years of direct ownership and preparation of both CIRO Form 1 and Form 31-103F1 for a Canadian regulated entity.
- Direct experience managing the filing lifecycle, including calculations, accounting judgments, review and sign-off, submission, regulator follow-up, and remediation.
- Experience in a self-clearing or introducing broker-dealer environment, with expertise in dealer capital adequacy, regulatory capital, liquidity, and related controls.
- CPA or equivalent accounting designation required.
- Expert knowledge of IFRS, NI 31-103, Form 31-103F1, CIRO capital adequacy, and Canadian securities-regulatory reporting.
- Demonstrated enterprise-level leadership, regulator-facing judgment, executive communication, and Board influence.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Skills Required
- 6+ years experience in regulatory reporting or finance at a bank, fintech, securities dealer, investment dealer, financial regulatory agency, or professional services firm, with at least 3 years in a regulated entity preparing or reviewing filings for a securities regulator
- CPA designation (or equivalent) with deep, hands-on knowledge of IFRS and Canadian securities regulatory reporting requirements including NI 31-103, Form 31-103F1, and CIRO capital adequacy rules
- Proven track record of preparing and presenting financial and regulatory reports to board-level and senior management
- Direct experience interacting with securities regulators (OSC, CIRO/IIROC, provincial securities commissions) during examinations, inquiries, or routine filings
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects (vendor transitions, system integrations, reporting automation) from scoping through delivery in a management capacity
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable workflow improvements
