We are looking for an organized and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as an Accounting Analyst for our Brampton, ON office.
Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze data from the general ledger system and various departments to prepare accurate and consolidated financial statements.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
- Execute full-cycle bookkeeping encompassing monthly accounting entries, financial reporting, and period-end close procedures.
- Utilize advanced spreadsheet tools to develop, analyze, and validate financial reports ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain precise financial records by preparing general ledger entries and performing thorough account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for compilation engagements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal accounting procedures and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Provide support during monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Handle sensitive financial data with the utmost discretion, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to gather financial information and provide meaningful insights that support business decisions.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field is often required
- 2+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting or related field.
- Experience in the Logistics / Transportation or Supply Chain industries is an asset.
- Professional experience with reporting packages (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), databases and general programming languages Professional experience in data mining, cleaning, and segmentation is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding operational environment, sometimes without detailed direction.
- Strong attention to details and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience with payment applications.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills & strong interpersonal and customer relation skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify patterns, trends and discrepancies.
- Ability to work efficiently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced business environment.
