Job Opportunity

As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our finance team by managing day-to-day accounting tasks and contributing to strategic financial processes. You will ensure our financial records are accurate and up-to-date, and you will contribute significantly to our financial decision-making processes. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional looking to grow their career in a dynamic and fast-paced SaaS environment and is located in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records by entering and verifying transactions, including complex reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports, ensuring adherence to policies.
  • Supporting tax filing in the US and Canada.
  • Support the audit process by providing comprehensive documentation and information as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and provide financial guidance.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or tech environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian and US accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Located in the GTA and be in the office a minimum of TWO days a week.
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems and financial modeling.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models and revenue recognition.
  • Experience working in a Startup environment.
