Sedgman and HOCHTIEF Infrastructure have been appointed as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor for Vulcan’s Lionheart Project, delivering an end-to-end solution for the Lithium Extraction Plant and Central Lithium Plant.

To support our growth, we’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Frankfurt, Germany. Reporting to the Group Manager, Finance, the Accountant will support core financial operations, statutory compliance, and project based financial activities as follows for our German operations:
About the Role:
Core Accounting & General Ledger
- Independently manage day‑to‑day accounting activities including AP, AR, General Ledger, and bank accounts
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records through reconciliations and proactive account maintenance
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
- Execute daily cash management and reporting activities
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and perform regular account clarifications
- Support budgeting and forecasting, cost reviews, and provide meaningful financial analysis in collaboration with cost centre owners
Period-End Close & Reporting
- Support month‑end close activities
- Assist in preparation of monthly management reporting
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and support VAT returns and statutory authority reporting
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and German GAAP
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation, working papers, and schedules
- Prepare tax documentation in collaboration with the HOCHTIEF Tax Team and external advisors
Cross-Functional & Operational Support
- Coordinate and support monthly payroll activities, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
- Support the German office with routine administrative and financial tasks such as purchase orders, invoice processing, and credit card transactions
- Assist Study Managers with financial queries and client billing
- Provide support on special projects and ad‑hoc requests from the CFO and Manager – Financial Reporting & Cash
Qualifications and Experience:
You hold a degree in Accounting or Commerce and bring a strong technical accounting foundation.
You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role within a medium to large organisation.
You are experienced in working with and navigating ERP systems in a business environment.
You have a solid understanding of German GAAP, the German Commercial Code (HGB), and tax requirements, including Umsatzsteuergesetz (UStG).
You are WP (Wirtschaftsprüfer) qualified or currently undertaking your qualification, which is considered an advantage.
You demonstrate advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
You are fluent in both German and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills (B2/C1 or above).
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage and schedule priorities to ensure deadlines and targets are met as required.
Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills to address all levels within the organisation.
Demonstrate strong teamwork with both internal and external team members and ability to drive execution through collaboration and networking
