A Day in the LifeAre you ready to kickstart your career in finance within a global healthcare technology leader? As an Accountant in Payroll Finance Europe the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), you will play a crucial role in Medtronic’s hire-to-retire value stream, managing financial transactions related to payroll, bonuses and accruals. This position offers the chance to work with a dynamic team, enhance financial accuracy and contribute to various projects. You will be part of a dynamic finance organization serving the EMEA region. If you enjoy analyzing data, improving processes and collaborating with stakeholders across regions, this opportunity is for you. This role focuses primarily on payroll finance processes, ensuring accurate and timely payroll accounting and reporting. In addition, you will support general ledger activities, including month-end close, revenue recognition processes and cross-functional finance initiatives, providing exposure to broader finance operations.This role is based at Medtronic’s Shared Service Center in Heerlen, the Netherlands, with a flexible hybrid working setup, typically combining 2-3 days in the office and remote work. You will report to the Accounting Manager for Payroll Finance and General Ledger and regularly collaborate with regional finance teams and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Manage employee-related financial calculations and transactions including monthly payroll entries, bonus accruals and restructuring accruals
- Perform payroll processes with high accuracy and ensure compliance with internal policies and local regulations
- Conduct high-quality Balance Sheet reconciliations and validate financial information
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with stakeholders on financial impacts, risks and opportunities
- Compile, analyse and report financial data to support decision-making insights
- Participate in projects that contribute to Medtronic’s broader business strategy
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with 3-6 years of relevant finance or accounting experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Tech-savvy with experience or interest in automation, process improvements and data analysis tools such as Excel, SAP, Power Bi
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team environment
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken
