Accountant
Huntsman is seeking an Accountant supporting the Finance Division located in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.
Job Scope
We are currently looking for a motivated individual to join our Shared Services: Inventory and Costing group. This role is responsible for supporting business needs related to inventory and cost accounting including monthly costing calculations, journal entry postings, inventory reconciliation, and continuous process improvement.
In summary, as an Accountant, you will:
- Run monthly PUP (Purchase Unit Price) and analyze associated journal entries.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries (e.g. accruals, obsolescence, inventory adjustments, gains/losses).
- Perform inventory reconciliation, material costing, and associated JE postings.
- Audit inventory and review obsolete inventory items.
- Support continuous improvement by developing and automating reports and processes.
- Provide analytical support to business groups.
- Assist with special projects and audit schedule preparation.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP.
Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities
With moderate supervision and moderate decision-making:
- Responsible for general ledger accounting, consignment inventory reconciliations, and stock-point reconciliation in SAP.
- Perform month-end close activities, revaluation of product exchanges, and reconciliation with exchange partners.
- Support quarterly and annual audit requirements, including PBC schedules and resolution of audit inquiries.
- Perform financial data uploads into SAP for foreign subsidiaries.
- Support SOX compliance by maintaining internal controls.
Other responsibilities include:
- Follow supervisor instructions and perform assigned duties.
- Assist team members in achieving company goals.
- Complete required training programs.
- Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
- Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to cost accounting principles.
Skills and Knowledge
- Intermediate Excel skills (assessment will be required).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to meet deadlines independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and instructions.
- Detail-oriented and proactive.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
- Experience in cost accounting or manufacturing environments.
Working Environment
- Typical office environment in a Shared Services Center.
- Must be able to work extended hours during month-end and audit periods as needed.
