Job SummaryThe Accountant is responsible for performing accounting functions for GuideStone and its controlled affiliates. These functions include entering journals, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and performing bank reconciliations. This role will participate in the month-end close process to ensure financial information for GuideStone Financial Resources and its controlled affiliates is available in a timely manner.
What You'll DoReconcile clearing accounts to ensure all money received or paid out by GuideStone is reflected in the appropriate recordkeeping system. Responsible for researching and correcting any out of balance.
Ensure daily transmission from the Transfer Agent processes correctly in order to confirm retirement trades are processed correctly. Research and resolve cash or income differences.
Review reconciliations and error reports between GuideStone’s general ledger and various recordkeeping systems. Research and make necessary adjustments.
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Participate in the month-end close process.
Track expenses for GuideStone Funds and communicate payment authorization to the Fund Accountant in accordance with SEC rules and Trustee approval policies.
Coordinate and resolve issues with the bank.
Prepare financial statements for GuideStone controlled affiliates.
Prepare tax deposits, tax filings, and tax reconciliations.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Progress towards CPA License.
Combination of 2+ years of relevant, progressive work experience and education highly preferred.
Knowledge of GAAP & FASB standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Excellent spreadsheet skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate GuideStone system applications.
Preferred software knowledge includes: Omniplus, Omnipay, Genelco, Microsoft Access, and Workday.
Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
