Nature and aim of the position
This is an accounting position in the Global Blue Japan Finance team. This position reports to the Accounting Manager in Tokyo. He or she is required to quickly proceed and complete numerous manual accounting work with standard tools including Excel.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Ongoing tasks
- Control the Shops and Merchants master data including setting up of new Shops and new Merchants registration.
- Manage the reliability and validity of accounting data in the system including refunding system and sales invoicing system before generation of sales invoices and merchant commission reports to the merchants.
- Create and send invoices to merchants and answer any inquiries from merchants.
- Follow-up on outstanding receivable and overpaid cases.
- Concentrate all of the billing processes into Finance, and make the entire billing processes efficient and/or automated.
- Strengthen control in place in the following areas;
- Merchant Commission Accrual balances
- Cash at each of the CIRC counters, - balances and operations
- T&E report operations and cash reimbursements.
- Accounting & Reporting
- Responsible in one or more accounting sub-functions such as GL, AP, AR, FA, and Billing.
- Responsible for T&E Report checks and proceed reimbursements to staff.
- Responsible for payments for vendor invoices.
- Treasury
- Responsible for weekly cash flow submission to Treasury.
- Fund management Dividend/IC loan to group for excess cash resolution.
- Settlements via group netting including internal GB invoices.
- Other
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and internal audit review follow up.
- Liaise with other departments (IT, Processing, Sales etc.) and external vendors (auditors, tax agents and financial institutions) to resolve issues and respond to queries.
- Liaise closely with APAC / HQ in matters related to accounting and invoicing process optimization and re-engineering.
- Any Ad-hoc tasks or projects as required.

Preferable skills and competencies
- Accounting knowledge and experience;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail a must;
- Team player with social competence;
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
- Strong excel skills;
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- MS Office knowledge;
- English language skills (oral & written) on the advanced level TOEIC 700
- Education and qualifications
- University degree on Economics, Accounting and or Finance;
- Highly skilled Finance abilities required;
- Nissho 3rd Grade or above preferred
- At least 3 years’ work experience in similar position within multinational companies;
- Used to work in international environments with matrix organizations;
- Strong team player;
- Autonomous and independent, goal-oriented and self-motivating personality;
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload, flexibility, proactivity, strong time management and high analytical working skills are required on top of strong communication, delegation and planning skills;
- Proficient in Japanese
