The Accountant provides strategic, operational, and financial accounting support across the Botswana retail business. The role strengthens financial governance, enhances reporting accuracy, and supports commercial and operational decision-making within a multi-store retail environment.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualifications (CA/ACCA/CIMA) advantageous.
• Retail or FMCG accounting experience essential.
• SAP experience required.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and insight.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
• Support year-end processes and audits with comprehensive audit packs and documentation.
Operational Finance
• Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts, ensuring adequate liquidity and treasury control.
• Oversee debtors and creditors management, improving working capital performance.
• Support payroll processing and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Reconcile high-volume retail transactions, ensuring alignment between POS systems and SAP.
Business Analysis & Decision Support
• Conduct financial analysis to support commercial and operational teams.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
• Provide insights to enhance profitability, shrinkage controls, and operational efficiency.
Systems & Technology
• Utilise SAP for financial processing, reporting, and controls.
• Apply strong analytical capabilities across Microsoft Office and Power BI.
• Use advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial models, data visualisation).
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead and mentor a medium-sized finance team, ensuring high performance and skill development.
• Allocate workloads, enforce financial discipline, and maintain process integrity.
• Collaborate with operations, commercial, and HR teams to support cross-functional needs.
