Element has an opportunity for a new Accountant to join our Global Business Services team based in Edinburgh. Supporting across the wider GL team, this role is focused on our growing Consumer & Industrials business line, reporting to our Senior Accountant.
This role would be perfect for a highly motivated professional keen to further their development in accounting and finance.
Our new colleague will join us based from our beautiful new office in Edinburgh Park where we enjoy state-of-the-art facilities including collaboration spaces, huddle rooms, open-concept layout, and abundant natural light. With fantastic links by train, tram, commuter routes, as well as having designated parking, we are well connected for colleagues across the central belt of Scotland.
Responsibilities
- Month-end management accounts analysis and support
- Review and posting of accruals and prepayments, payroll and sales adjustments
- Processing high volume of journals
- General ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Intercompany transaction processing and reconciliation
- Assistance with the quarterly VAT process and ongoing VAT compliance
- Assistance with the financial maintenance of the group’s electric car scheme
- Support and improvement of the month-end process and analysis for local finance and lab teams
- Support of internal and external audit processes for the group
- Support in the corporation tax and payroll compliance work across the business unit entities
- Documenting and developing the general business unit control environment
- Providing support to local finance managers and other GBS teams, including AR, AP, Treasury, Tax and Payroll
- Ad hoc duties as and when required to support finance applications and initiatives
- Support in move of the final Consumer & Industrials entities onto D365
- Support in the compliance and closure of legacy businesses
- Degree and accountancy qualification desirable, but PQ/qualified by experience considered
- Significant experience gained in a similar role
- Strong systems and accounting experience preferred – Navision and D365 experience desirable
- Effective communicator and comfortable working within both a local and wider team
- Self-starter, works own initiative and proactive
- Attention to detail, especially regarding GL transactions
- Positive, can-do attitude
