Position Summary: Maintains accounting records and prepares financial statements and analysis for Market America, Inc. and/or affiliated entities.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
- Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, monthly financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Maintains and reconciles all assigned general ledger accounts
- Monitors and generates reports to management of cash balances for multiple affiliated entities
- Prepares journal entries and maintains and reconciles various general ledger accounts to ensure accurate monthly processes
- Analyzes business operations, trends, costs and revenues to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice
- Completes assigned tasks in the monthly close process
- Examines processes used to generate the journal entries that create the monthly financial statements, and confirms accuracy, completeness and relevancy of the elements used
- Develops, maintains and analyzes budgets, and prepares periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs, for both operating costs and capital expenditures
- Documents processes and desktop procedures used in performing assigned responsibilities
- Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
- Provides work leadership and direction to other accountants and clerical workers
- Performs advanced and specialized accounting assignments involving complex and confidential data
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as needed or requested
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None, but may direct and train others
Performs any other functions and duties assigned and necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Market America.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree within finance or accounting; minor in computer information systems
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in finance and accounting or a combination of equivalent experience, education, and training
Computer/Communication Skills:
- Proficient use of MS Office programs: Word, Excel and Outlook, required
- High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted strategic projects in conjunction with day-to-day tactical activities
- Ability to get along and work with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible
- Prioritizes and models good communication skills; follow up, timely responses, proactive and positive in approach
- Above moderate to high levels in reading comprehension, writing, and speaking in English; active listening; attention to detail; critical thinking; mathematics, creative problem solving; complex problem solving; and judgment.
Above moderate levels of Spanish speaking, writing, and reading comprehension (Required)
Travel:
- Remote work with business approval
- Annual conference participation and related travel
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to dust and weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e., cold hot/humid)
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
- Regularly required to talk, walk, stand, bend, twist, reach with hands and arms, stoop kneel and crouch
- Raise and lower an object from one level to another, less than twenty (20) pounds.
- Visual acuity must be a minimum or 20/40 (corrected) and normal hand/eye coordination
- Normal or corrected hearing
- Must be able to perform in an office environment where ninety (90) percent of work is performed sitting.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (minor in computer information systems)

- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and completing monthly close processes
- Ability to develop and analyze budgets and prepare budget vs. actual reports

- Strong reading comprehension, writing, speaking in English, critical thinking, attention to detail, and mathematical/analytical skills
- Ability to perform normal office physical requirements (visual acuity 20/40 corrected, normal hearing, lift under 20 pounds, sit majority of work)
