The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing investment and trust accounting activities, supporting financial reporting processes, and contributing to other daily and monthly operational tasks. 

This role entails a significant amount of operational processing on a daily basis. Successful employees in this position are able to work under pressure to meet daily timelines; balance repetitive tasks while ensuring transactions are recorded accurately; and ensure supporting documentation is in line with established policies. 

Responsibilities
  • Familiarity with non-profit, fiduciary or trust accounting environments
  • Perform daily transaction activities related to investments and client trust accounts
  • Prepare and deliver assigned financial and operational reports accurately and on time
  • Complete billings, reconciliations, and other recurring accounting processes
  • Support month-end and year-end close procedures when assigned
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
  • Assist managers with various assignments and projects
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or auditing
  • Ability to learn new accounting systems
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; time management; and ability to follow corporate policies & procedures
     

Preferred:

  • Professional designations or certifications (CPA, CMA, CFA, other)
  • Prior experience working in a CPA firm and/or prior accounting/operations experience in banking, trust, or other financial services.
  • Familiarity with non-profit, fiduciary or trust accounting environments
