The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing investment and trust accounting activities, supporting financial reporting processes, and contributing to other daily and monthly operational tasks.
This role entails a significant amount of operational processing on a daily basis. Successful employees in this position are able to work under pressure to meet daily timelines; balance repetitive tasks while ensuring transactions are recorded accurately; and ensure supporting documentation is in line with established policies.
Responsibilities- Familiarity with non-profit, fiduciary or trust accounting environments
- Perform daily transaction activities related to investments and client trust accounts
- Prepare and deliver assigned financial and operational reports accurately and on time
- Complete billings, reconciliations, and other recurring accounting processes
- Support month-end and year-end close procedures when assigned
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
- Assist managers with various assignments and projects
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or auditing
- Ability to learn new accounting systems
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated attention to detail; time management; and ability to follow corporate policies & procedures
Preferred:
- Professional designations or certifications (CPA, CMA, CFA, other)
- Prior experience working in a CPA firm and/or prior accounting/operations experience in banking, trust, or other financial services.
- Familiarity with non-profit, fiduciary or trust accounting environments
