Our client is a fast-growing Nigerian e-commerce company operating multiple consumer product brands.
They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and support accurate financial reporting for the business.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for bank and transaction reconciliations, agent remittance tracking, accounts payable, payroll, tax compliance, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate accounting records.
Job Responsibilities
Agent Remittance Reconciliation
- Daily reconciliation of COD remittances from agents across 23+ states against CRM order-fulfilment records.
- Identify and follow up on discrepancies, shortfalls, and delayed remittances.
- Maintain an agent liability ledger covering amounts collected, remitted, and outstanding.
- Prepare weekly remittance reports for management.
Payroll & Vendor Payments
- Process monthly staff payroll and performance-based commissions for agents/contractors.
- Manage accounts payable and coordinate payments to suppliers, fulfillment partners, logistics vendors, and service providers.
- Maintain payment schedules.
- Track outgoing payments with invoices, receipts, and transfer documentation.
Tax Filing & Regulatory Compliance
- Calculate and remit monthly PAYE to the relevant SIRS.
- Manage VAT, including input/output VAT and monthly FIRS VAT returns.
- Handle WHT deductions and remittances.
- Maintain an annual tax compliance calendar.
- Liaise with external auditors/tax consultants when required.
P&L Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare monthly P&L statements by brand and product line.
- Track COGS, fulfillment costs, advertising spend, and operating overheads.
- Monitor weekly cash flow and identify liquidity risks.
- Provide management with financial summaries highlighting trends, cost increases, and margin erosion.
- Support monthly business reviews with financial data.
Job Requirements
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- ACA, ACCA, or ICAN membership—or active student membership near completion—is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce, FMCG, or retail.
- High-volume transaction reconciliation experience is non-negotiable.
- Practical experience with FIRS filings (VAT, CIT, WHT) and PAYE remittances.
- Strong Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
- QuickBooks, Sage, or Zoho Books experience is a bonus.
- Comfortable working with Google Workspace.
- Ability to learn proprietary/internal tools quickly.
