Who You Are
You are a detail-oriented and organized accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You take pride in accuracy, maintain confidentiality, and are comfortable managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communicate effectively across departments, and are proactive in improving financial processes and maintaining accurate records.
What You'll Do
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Support financial reporting and provide analysis as required.
- Perform consolidations and intercompany reconciliations.
- Work with accrual-based accounting across multiple currencies.
- Apply knowledge of US and/or Canadian GAAP to accounting processes and financial reporting.
- Support payroll processing by coordinating with internal teams and external providers as needed. Payroll processing experience is considered an asset.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking.
- Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate financial records and organize supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and internal controls.
- Collaborate with production, operations, HR, and leadership teams on financial matters and reporting requirements.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the entertainment, media, VFX, animation, or creative industries.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with US and/or Canadian GAAP.
- Experience with accrual-based accounting and multiple currencies.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Macros.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (G Suite).
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Payroll processing experience is considered an asset.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is considered an asset.
