Thermo Fisher Scientific's Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) provides a broad range of instruments, consumables, software and services that are used for a range of applications in the laboratory, on the production line and in the field. These products and services are used by customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, government, environmental, and other research and industrial markets, as well as clinical laboratories. AIG includes three divisions – Chemical Analysis (CAD), Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (CMD), and Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) – and our Services business, Instrument and Enterprise Services.

How you will make an impact:

The AIG Accounting III position is an Accounting focused role that requires some tax experience.   This role will be delivering reporting for tax calculations, accurate reconciliations as well as serving as a business partner with Corporate and operational teams to achieve business objectives. A successful person will support the overall tax accounting process including reconciliations, optimizing reporting and crafting trusted and accurate processes.

What you will do:

Tax Reporting

• Providing accurate and timely sales reporting for several businesses across AIG to our tax processor for filings
• Support the sales and service teams by researching and resolving sales tax questions and issues as well as recording tax adjustments to the GL and customer accounts for customer invoices tax corrections. 
• Complete the property tax process including reviewing assessed values, payment of tax due, reconciliations, interacting with assessors and coordinating property tax audits.

Accounting Processes:

• Reconciliation of all tax ledger accounts to ensure payments are made in full. 
• Use Accounting expertise to strengthen and optimize current processes to mitigate any risk to the Business. 
• Work with AP and Disbursements to ensure a smooth process with tax payments including accurate ledger accounts, credit limits on payments and timely communication. 

How you will get here:

Education

College degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years verified experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Sales Tax experience required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Possess outstanding effective communication, and relationship management.
• Strong initiative and a consistent record of complicated problems.
• The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficient with Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)
• Detail oriented with capability to work under strict timelines.
