About the role:
This role operates within the company’s Global Business Services organization and provides high-quality accounting expertise and services to Boston Scientific Corporation. The position performs moderately complex general and corporate accounting activities, including account analysis, journal entry preparation, financial reporting, system interface management, and month-end close and consolidation. The role monitors performance against key indicators and identifies opportunities to improve and streamline processes.
Your responsibilities include:
- Maintain balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly and annual accounting reports.
- Implement, maintain, and improve internal controls within the Finance function, ensuring compliance with applicable SOX requirements.
- Review and approve account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Create and maintain Desktop Procedures and supporting process documentation.
- Oversee the timely and accurate execution of assigned accounting processes, including month-end close activities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and the SOX management team to fulfill audit requests.
- Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and process standardization across multiple entities.
- Collaborate with several groups within BSC, including local sites, to ensure that all perspectives are considered when implementing changes and improvements.
- Provide accurate and timely information to internal and external partners, including responses to urgent and ad hoc requests.
- Lead or support finance and accounting projects, including process improvements, system implementations, and implementation to policy updates.
- Meet key performance metrics and service levels agreed upon with business partners.
- Perform other accounting activities as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a shared services environment is preferred.
- Upper-intermediate English proficiency (B2 or equivalent), with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles; lease accounting knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and Cadency is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform.
- Detail-oriented and accountable, with the ability to work and resolve accounting issues independently, coordinate multiple activities and projects, and consistently meet performance expectations.
- Collaborative and service-oriented, with strong stakeholder relationship skills.
- Innovative, inquisitive, and proactive in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and processes.
