Job Summary
We are seeking an Accountant II to join a dynamic accounting team. This role leads month-end close activities, supports financial statement preparation, and ensures compliance with GAAP. Responsibilities include preparing complex journal entries, analyzing transactions, and supporting internal and external audits. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end close processes
- Prepare and review complex journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Process vendor payments, ensuring accurate expense classification
- Monitor cash activity and customer accounts, maintaining organized records of receipts
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Review and approve employee expense reports in compliance with company policies
- Manage billing and utility payments for multiple properties
- Reconcile corporate credit cards and related accounts
- Prepare and analyze monthly sales and commission reports
- Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules, including depreciation entries
- Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Monitor expenses against budget and ensure proper cost classification
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Support audit requests and prepare required documentation
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency
- Provide cross-functional support and guidance on accounting processes
- Assist with special projects as needed
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience (healthcare or medical device experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
- Experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Macola a plus) and Microsoft Suite; proficient in excel
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Process-oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement
Salary Range: $60,000-80,000/annual
This position is full-time, on-site and located in our headquarters in Baldwin, NY.
