The Accountant II is a key member of the accounting team and will work closely with the Finance Management Team on various functions and responsibilities. Responsibilities include performing a variety of accounting functions. This may include driving the completion of month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger and accounting reconciliation software, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and assisting with regulatory weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual filings with regulatory bodies. A successful Accountant II will be detail-oriented, team-focused, willing to collaborate across disciplines, receptive to feedback, strong analytical skills, and a champion of change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and review of daily, weekly, monthly balance sheet reconciliations for certain general ledger accounts and drive completion of month end with preparation entire company monthly consolidation packets.
  • Provide support for the preparation of monthly Credit Risk analysis over the many different areas of the loan portfolio and allowance for credit losses.
  • The lead for general ledger maintenance to ERP system and accounting reconciliation system.
  • Responsible for preparation of regulatory reporting schedules and SEC footnotes.
  • Post general ledger entries and other general ledger maintenance.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset and Prepaid schedules, ensuring all items adhere to their respective policies.
  • Cross-train and serve as a back-up in other areas of the department as required.
  • Provide accounting support to others across the organization as needs arise.
  • Lead the annual BETE and BETR tax filing projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 or 4 year college degree in Business and/or Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting experience in public or private sector

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within the banking industry
  • Previous bank regulatory reporting experience
  • Prior experience with accounting information systems

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong, confident and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfortable with other Microsoft products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently

Supervisory Skills:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Role requires individual to work directly with peers and management across the organization to resolve questions and provide feedback on matters as they arise
