Job Description:
Nebraska Public Retirement Systems is searching for an Accountant II position to join our Financial Reporting team. We’re looking for an individual who is proactive, efficient, focused, excited to learn, and committed to high standards of integrity. Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Hiring Rate: $25.403
Range: $25.403 - $37.448
The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.

Examples of Work
- Perform daily pre-audit and post-audit entries
- Complete monthly account reconciliations
- Prepare and review Monthly Trial Balance
- Assist with month-end close processes
- Update and monitor daily financial reports
- Manage and evaluate cash flow reporting
- Participate in special projects
- Provide backup support for other Finance teams
- Reconcile Contributions and research variances
- Prepare Monthly Journal Entries to record activity
- Assist Employers with Retirement Questions
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years’ experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior participation in a team environment, skilled with business math, flexible and adaptable, problem solving, and can manage multiple priorities. Experience with multiple accounting systems, self-development, customer service, advanced Excel, Microsoft Access, and process improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: the principles and practices of accounting theory and double entry accounting concepts and procedures; generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); accounting systems; the methods of filing and maintaining accounting records; Microsoft Excel; database management; federal and State laws and regulations applicable to accounting/finance operations.
Skill in: using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report.
Ability to: apply the principles of accounting, statistics, and fiscal management; learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, policies and operating details of an accounting system; design reports and financial statements; compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions; operate office equipment such as personal computers, photocopiers and desk calculators; manage funds and provide financial and budget recommendations; analyze data and draw conclusions; organize and present facts and opinions so others will understand; effectively communicate to exchange and elicit information.
