Salary range: $28.36 to 39.70 per hour
Position Overview:
The Accountant II position ensures timely and accurate reporting of capital expenditures and/or prepaid assets by creating assets in accordance with policy, budget, and generally accepted accounting principles. This position also administers the accounts payable software and manages the workflow and troubleshooting within the software for the Accounting department.
Core Job / Requirements/Outcomes
- Manage the credit union’s capital expenditures and/or prepaid assets by processing asset accounting entries, loading invoices, reconciling, and publish monthly reporting.
- Manage and improve the Accounts Payable, Corporate Card, and Expense Reimbursement tasks by providing advanced troubleshooting and ensuring accurate processing and GL postings. Lead process improvements by maintaining workflows, implementing efficiencies, providing training, and maintaining applicable software and approval matrixes
- Complete complex daily, monthly or quarterly GL reconciliations or accounting processes by preparing reconciliations on a timely basis and resolving outstanding transactions appropriately. Establish checks and balances to identify errors and ensure accuracy in reconciliations.
Other Essential Functions
- Represent the Accounting department by providing timely, professional and friendly communication to all we encounter, including staff, members and vendors.
- Support departmental or credit union wide initiatives and projects by contributing as an effective project team member and complete all tasks and assignments in a timely manner.
- Continually cover, complete and cross train on all daily tasks assigned to all Accountants to ensure all daily tasks can be completed independently and accurately each day.
- Proactively recommend and implement efficiencies within any task in the Accounting department.
- Provide leadership to Accountant I positions by conducting training for new employees, mentoring, assist in problem solving, and providing constructive feedback.
- Ensure proper accounting controls by completing daily processes timely and accurately.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Job Experience Minimum of three years’ experience in an accounting or finance position, preferably in a financial institution or in a public accounting/auditing position.
Software Skills Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
Equipment Skills Proficient with 10-key calculator.
Physical Demands Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 25 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Travel Demands Reliable transportation is required due to occasional travel to branches and other locations within the area.
