General Description

The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform professional accounting and financial management work related to federal, state, and local grant programs. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with grant regulations and financial reporting requirements, including preparing, monitoring, and reconciling grant-related financial transactions, budgets, and reports to ensure the accurate financial management of awarded grants throughout their life cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations for grant-related funds.
  • Maintain grant budgets, including creation of budget reports for new grants, and financial tracking schedules to ensure expenditures align with funding requirements and approved allocations.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports, invoices, and reimbursement requests to granting agencies in compliance with grant terms and conditions.
  • Monitor grant expenditures and balances to ensure proper use of funds and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Grants Administration and various other County departments to ensure timely reporting and resolution of financial issues.
  • Assist with audits, monitoring visits, and financial reviews by providing supporting documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records for all grant financial activities in accordance with county policies and grantor requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures to improve grant accounting processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Participate in grant closeout activities, ensuring all financial obligations are met and reports submitted.
  • Assists in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Requires two years’ experience in government accounting, general finance operations or closely related experience.

The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

The work is typically performed in an office.

Emergency Preparedness Tier Level:  4

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Prefers CPA or CIA.

Salary: $50,561.00
