In this role, you will leverage your accounting and analytical expertise to support Pfizer's global Inventory and Cost Accounting operations. By ensuring the accuracy of inventory valuation, standard costing, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory-related financial reporting, you will play a critical role in maintaining financial integrity across Pfizer's global supply chain. Your contributions will support informed business decisions and help ensure compliance while advancing Pfizer's mission of delivering breakthroughs that change patients' lives.
What You Will Achieve
As an Inventory & Cost Accounting Associate, your primary focus will be supporting global inventory accounting, cost accounting, financial close, compliance, and process improvement activities. You will analyze inventory-related transactions, investigate variances, support financial reporting, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost accounting processes.
In this role, you will:
  • Contribute to the completion of project milestones and organize work effectively to meet business and project deadlines.
  • Proactively identify inventory and costing issues, communicate risks, and recommend potential solutions to management.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial and accounting analyses related to inventory valuation, standard costing, and manufacturing activities.
  • Analyze and reconcile inventory-related accounts, including inventory balances, COGS, purchase price variance (PPV), manufacturing usage variance (MUV), revaluation, and other cost accounting transactions.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules related to inventory accounting activities.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate reporting and valuation of inventory and cost-related accounts.
  • Monitor, validate, and analyze standard cost updates, costing structures, and cost estimates within SAP and other financial systems.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Commercial, and Finance teams to resolve inventory and costing issues.
  • Support inventory-related compliance activities, including SOX controls, audit requests, inventory valuation reviews, and policy adherence.
  • Maintain accurate and current Work Instructions, Job Aids, Desktop Procedures, and process documentation.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, reporting enhancement, and process optimization.
  • Support inventory and cost accounting transformation projects, including ERP implementations, SAP S/4HANA initiatives, financial systems enhancements, and reporting solutions.
  • Produce recurring operational and financial reports, analyze trends, and communicate key findings to stakeholders.
  • Engage directly with business partners and global stakeholders to support operational activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with internal and external audit activities, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate responses to audit requests.

Qualifications
What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with 0+ years of experience; OR Associate's Degree with 4+ years of experience; OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting, finance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or related financial disciplines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately interpret financial and operational data.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, inventory valuation principles, standard costing methodologies, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism while working with stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience in Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Supply Chain Finance.
  • SAP experience, including Inventory Management (MM), Product Costing (CO-PC), Material Ledger, Cost Object Controlling, and Financial Accounting (FI).
  • Experience analyzing PPV, MUV, inventory revaluation, standard cost updates, inventory reserves, and inventory-related balance sheet accounts.
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems such as FCCS, Hyperion, SmartView, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting solutions such as Power BI, SAP Analytics, BusinessObjects, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Experience leading process automation and transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using AI and digital productivity tools, including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, automation technologies, and data analytics solutions while demonstrating awareness of responsible AI practices.
