Accountant with German (International Projects)
Responsibilities

In this role, you will support and coordinate operational finance and accounting processes across various projects, with a strong focus on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Procure-to-Pay activities.

• Collaborate on international projects and work closely with external (primarily German-speaking) clients

• Record, review, and reconcile financial transactions within agreed timelines, including AP, AR, bank transactions, payroll-related items, and GL entries

• Work with accounting data (e.g. open items, invoices, payments) with a focus on follow-ups, clarifications, and issue resolution rather than purely transactional posting

• Support and coordinate end-to-end finance processes, including Procure-to-Pay, cash application, and treasury-related activities

• Actively communicate with clients and internal stakeholders in German (emails, calls, meetings) and participate in regular status discussions

• Drive resolution of open items, including chasing approvals and coordinating across finance and business teams

• Support month-end closing activities and contribute to financial reporting in cooperation with financial analysts

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards

• Perform basic financial analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and areas for improvement

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and applicable legislation, adapting processes where needed

• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and enhance efficiency and transparency

• Share knowledge within the team and support junior colleagues (depending on seniority)

What you need to succeed

• 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance operations

• Fluency in German (C1 level) is essential, both written and spoken, for daily communication with German-speaking clients

• Good command of English for internal communication

• Experience in accounting or finance operations

• Solid understanding of accounting processes such as AP, AR, GL, Procure-to-Pay, or treasury is a strong advantage

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with financial data

• Experience with accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines

• Proactive and “can-do” attitude, with the ability to take ownership and drive topics independently

• Strong communication skills and confidence in client interaction, including the ability to follow up, push topics forward, and resolve open items

• Client-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering quality and building trusted relationships

• Experience in consulting, SSC, or a shared service environment is a plus

• Knowledge of accounting or tax regulations is an advantage

• In today’s workplace, familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Power BI is valuable.
