The Accountant 3 maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. This position safeguards the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Oversees, mentors, and assists lower-level accountants.
- Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Creates financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies, and stockholders.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
- Analyzes clinical provider productivity and deployment
- Creates proformas for faculty recruits and assists with faculty retention packages
- Participates in the development of the Departmental fiscal year annual operating budget for submission to the Dean’s Office
- Works with leadership to strategically assess, plan, and implement new initiatives in infrastructure and workflow.
- Develops, prepares, and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.
- Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and makes recommendations to senior management.
- Will create and maintain MOUs
- Reviews employee distributions, maintains costing allocations, and submits Payroll Accounting Adjustments for funding changes
- Provides analytical evaluation for forward-looking financial or business-related projects. Devises financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.
- Reviews reports and ensures that financial information has been recorded accurately. Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments.
- Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities.
- Develops performance and productivity dashboards, models, or analysis.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
