Edelman’s New York office has an opening for a corporate communications practitioner with issues and crisis experience. The U.S. Crisis & Risk team is seeking an Account Supervisor (AS) to join our team of talented and collaborative communications professionals and support proactive and reactive risk management assignments across our multi-industry portfolio of clients.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who is able to think strategically and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. As an AS, you’ll be responsible for driving deliverables, overseeing and supporting the growth of junior team members, proactively looking around corners and proposing solutions to senior team members, and ensuring quality across workstreams.
Responsibilities:
• Lead research, planning and development of integrated corporate communications and crisis management accounts
• Provide strategic guidance and tactical support for clients in the face of emerging issues and reputational challenges
• Oversee quality and operational performance of account teams, ensuring deadlines are met, client objectives are achieved, and account scope remains within budget
• Write well-crafted internal and client correspondence, communications plans, stakeholder materials, new business proposals, etc.
• Utilize strong understanding of stakeholder groups and ability to craft communications according to audience and channel nuances
• Stay on top of business and industry trends, global news, and potential client risks on an ongoing basis to make informed recommendations
• Employ strong media relations skills, connecting with media to correct story inaccuracies
• Support daily communications triage and response, including team coordination and client counsel
• Build compelling presentations and use client relationships skills to engage with account teams and convey strategic ideas
• Champion integration of teams; uses and becomes one of Edelman’s network resources to meet client goals
• Use AI responsibly in client work to drive efficiency and effectiveness
• Track and monitor project financials (e.g., budget vs. actual) and meets client revenue targets
• Mentor, coach and support all team members and ensure self and staff are developing abilities through Edelman Learning Institute and other trainings, including on-the-job training and mentoring
• Lead by example; demonstrates strong work ethic, mastery of PR tactics and excellent people management
• Commit to continuous learning and building technical and leadership skills through training

Basic Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or related fields
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 4-7 years of crisis communications experience, preferably in an agency setting
• Familiarity with best practices for and experience managing the major corporate communications issues common today, including but not limited to societal issues, data security matters, workplace matters, and external reputation issues
• Proven ability to manage large projects and small teams
• High attention to detail, comfort with a fast-paced environment, and ability to manage workflows across multiple accounts at once
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit work of others
• Solid understanding of applications of artificial intelligence within a crisis and risk context
• Familiar with best practices across corporate communications tools and tactics with the ability to make recommendations to senior team members

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
