Job Description
The Account Manager - Export & Emerging Markets is accountable for the sales of scientific products and services within a defined segment/territory, serving customers engaged in research and development. Maintains effective customer relations, develops and drives opportunities for growth within an existing customer base, and assures market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic and tactical sales plan for your specified territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are achieved or exceeded.
- Drive specific product sales, support supplier partnerships, and actively promote core products and advantageous services.
- Build and maintain an effective network within the organization to strengthen selling opportunities.
- Lead pricing within the territory to ensure profitability.
- Research and stay informed of new products/services and industry activities, incorporating this data into your business plan.
- Update reporting tools on customers, competitor activity, and promotions to agreed timescales and formats.
- Collaborate closely with fellow sales team members to build the best customer experience.
- Implement account strategies for Program Accounts as communicated by Key Account Managers and for Non-Program accounts as determined by you and your Manager.
- Use SalesForce.com and other company tools to develop the territory plan pipeline and optimize coverage.
- Complete personal administration tasks accurately and on time, including expenses and mileage capture for company car drivers.
- Display role model leadership behaviors and support junior colleagues.
- Seek opportunities for self-development using all available training resources.
- Apply PPI principles to discover innovative ways and run simple projects.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Proven sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office and sales force software.
- Strong industry, pharmaceutical, and science background preferred.
- Full driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Strong organizational, teamwork, time management, communication, presentation, strategic selling, and negotiating skills.
- Confident personality with the ability to engage customers effectively in various settings.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment, leading competing requirements and concurrent project activity.
- Professional presentation and thoughtful approach to customer interactions.
