Summary:
The Oneida Daily Dispatch, a division of MediaNews Group, is looking for an Account Executive to join our sales team. Account Executives maintain existing business accounts, grow revenue and successfully land new business opportunities. This person in this position will establish and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers within the business community and proactively anticipate their needs. Account Executives are able to communicate our value proposition to clients and prospects and are comfortable communicating in a presentation setting.
Work independently and make sound business decisions related to achieving revenue goals while communicating with your manager each day to discuss strategy, forecasting and other key issues.
This person needs to live in or near greater Oneida, NY in order to routinely visit clients and prospects. This position may be required to periodically come to the office for team meetings or to meet with their Manager. The position may become permanently remote in the future.

What you will do:
- Strategically prospect for new accounts, conduct needs assessments to determine customer needs, generate ideas and proposals, present recommendations, close the sale and set client expectations
- Analyze clients' advertising business objectives in order to prepare creative solutions by using all appropriate products and services to fit the advertisers' budget and campaign goals
- Own the sales and retention cycle for each campaign working in conjunction with the assigned support and operations teams
- Meet with individual clients at appropriate frequencies (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) to review schedules, budgets and create new strategies
- Prepare and develop sales recommendations using our resources by gathering appropriate statistics concerning market share, demographics, market volume and other relevant data
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of product features and benefits, rates, and packages and explain them in a way to match recommendations to customer needs
- Meet deadlines, create accurate advertising orders, and submit client contracts and complete sales reporting in a timely manner
- Develop prospective leads using a variety of sources, including digital, radio, TV and direct mail, attend local or category business events for networking opportunities and stay up-to-date with industry trends
- Analyze and interpret key sales metrics and develop strategies to reach sales success
What you will bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Some sales work experience required (retail, business to business, etc.)
- One year of outside sales experience preferred. Media sales experience is helpful
- Must be comfortable with the prospect of upselling existing customers, prospecting new customers and presenting advertising campaign solutions in person and remotely
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating and conducting presentations, composing ad copy and emailing internal and external parties
- Superior interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain important relationships with clients and business partners
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google and Gmail
- Must be comfortable with the prospect of using and learning Facebook, SEO, SEM and web advertising tools
- Detail orientation, time management and organization skills are required to ensure advertising is coordinated properly, submitted accurately and on time with established deadlines
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
The annual salary is $30,000 plus commission. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
Travel:
Account Executives routinely travel locally by personal vehicle approximately 25% of the time visiting clients and prospective clients in their sales territory. This job operates in a professional office environment and at the Company and client sites for business meetings and presentations.
