Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our CHI branch located in Franklin Park, IL for an experienced Account Executive. This is a remote position reporting to our Chicago branch. The ideal candidate will reside in the Detroit, Cincinnati, or Cleveland area and will manage a multi-state sales territory covering Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana through frequent customer visits and regular travel.
We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, dynamic, highly motivated, reliable, and who understands and appreciates the importance of a team effort. The candidate should also possess the ability to ‘think outside the box’, and think and work outside their local market, and be aware of various time zones and regional norms for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and distribute a comprehensive weekly schedule of planned sales calls.
- Identify and evaluate potential business opportunities within the existing customer base through regular client visits.
- Drive business growth by securing new opportunities from both new and existing customers.
- Document sales call notes and action items in the CRM system within two business days.
- Coordinate follow-up on sales call action items in collaboration with local staff.
- Plan and execute regular travel throughout the assigned territory to maximize customer engagement, support existing accounts, and generate new business.
- Analyze customer reports and statistics to identify trends and opportunities.
- Manage daily email correspondence and phone interactions with customers and internal teams.
- Regularly meet with local managers and the General Manager to review updates on their client base.
- Generate and distribute sales leads to Shipco USA offices and overseas partners.
- Organize and schedule calls and entertainment for corporate and international visitors.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience, selling international transportation is required. Experience in an NVOCC background is preferred, but candidates with VOCC or freight forwarder experience may also apply.
- Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of inside and outside sales techniques and procedures, and can demonstrate the ability for business development, client maintenance, and procurement of new accounts.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
- Must enjoy a fast-paced, multi-tasking, customer service-minded environment.
- Reports to the Branch General Manager.
