The Accessibility Specialist, 6-12 Math collaborates, authors, publishes, and advises on accessibility supports, primarily text-based, in both print and digital contexts for the Amplify Desmos Math 6-12 curriculum. This is a full-time fixed-term position, with an expected duration of January 2025 - December 2025.
Essential Responsibilities of the Accessibility Specialist, 6-12 Math:

Collaborate across teams (e.g., Curriculum, Interaction, Editorial, Digital Production) to develop and update guidelines to ensure that accessibility supports are provided, consistent, and cohesive throughout the curriculum.

Create accessible alternatives for media content, such as image descriptions.

Incorporate content accessibility requirements (semantic structure, meaningful links) into content authoring workflows.

Advise on best practices for accessibility during curriculum development and revision.

Collaborate with the CL Accessibility Lead to manage processes and deadlines for creating accessibility supports.

Other tasks to support accessibility and accessible content development, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications of the Accessibility Specialist, 6-12 Math:

Bachelor’s degree in special education, middle or high school education, mathematics education, or a related field

2+ years experience creating accessible content for 6-12 students using plain language and clear and structured content, and providing alternatives as needed

2+ years experience creating content that reflects diversity and inclusion
-
Knowledge of digital accessibility and disability inclusion
-
Knowledge of the Plain Writing Act of 2010 and other regulations related to content accessibility

Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements related to content authoring and production
-
Robust knowledge of 6-12 math standards and needs of students in the grade-band

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Proficiency in using Google Suite

Alignment to team and company values around technology, design, pedagogy

Shared commitment to team efforts around accessibility and equity work
Preferred Qualifications of the Accessibility Specialist, 6-12 Math:

Proficiency in using the Desmos Activity Builder

Experience developing mathematics curricula (e.g., student-facing lessons, teacher-facing resources)

Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
-
Experience teaching 9-12 math
-
Experience creating content that follows Plain Language Guidelines

Experience incorporating production of alternatives (e.g., image descriptions) into content authoring workflows

Experience incorporating accessibility into content authoring resources, such as style guides
What we offer:
Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The annualized gross salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000.
