How You WIll Make an Impact

The Academic Support Staff (Math) will work in a personalized instructional environment to work with students and parents and support students' academic plans and growth. The support staff will use data to work with students who demonstrate academic need based on student testing data. They will work with students in support of all staff. This position reports to the Principal or designee.

  • Plan, organize, and implement daily lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and the teaching staff
  • Conduct pre-testing and post-testing using standardized tests for each student
  • As a part of a team, implement goals as outlined in each student's IEP (as applicable)
  • Responsible for managing a student’s behavior • Demonstrate competency in all subject areas
  • Work with students on intervention programs such as MATH 180
  • Assist with STAR testing and data results
  • Participate in IMTSS and PBIS team support meetings
  • Provide direct student instruction
  • Provide academic assessments
  • Attend IEP meetings as requested
  • Meet timeline requirements as specified by the education code
  • Provide direct services to students that are supportive of the teaching staff
  • Provide consultation and assistance to general education teachers for planning, making adaptations, and accommodations for students
  • Work with Math Teacher / Specialists and school support staff to support student instruction
  • Participate in authorized school district trainings, school events, and meetings
  • Maintain documentation of communications with students, families, and other service providers.
  • Maintain documentation of daily activities.
  • Complete reports and forms as required
  • Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned, which may be changed or modified from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educational Aide Permit (Ohio DEW)
  • Knowledgeable in Math and Reading teaching techniques is preferred
  • One of the following:
  • Associate degree (or higher) from an accredited state college, or
  • Two years of college (48 credit hours) or
  • Pass the ParaPro Assessment
  • ESEA Highly Qualified Endorsement (met by obtaining a degree, credits, or ParaPro test
  • A demonstrated interest in a teaching career is desired
  • Proficient in basic computer literacy and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel in performance of duties

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or virtually, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work. Understand how to manage stress. high workflow management, high project coordination, and high people engagement.
  • Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together, use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work in a moderate to high noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
