The Role

Job Description:

The Academic Services Coordinator focuses on administrative duties to support enterprise-wide Medical Education strategies, including medical student rotations, APP student rotations, and Graduate Medical Education. This position is responsible for leading projects and collaborating with multiple departments in order to support Intermountain Health’s strategy to sufficiently train future Physicians and Advance Practice Providers.

Scope

The Academic Services Coordinator acts as a facilitator to support medical student and APP student clinical rotations (“Undergraduate Medical Education”, or “UME”) and related policies, procedures, and processes, and Graduate Medical Education (GME) enterprise wide.  This position will assist with aligning, developing, and facilitating strategic initiatives to ensure optimal and substantial outcomes for medical education, including UME and GME.

 

This position will be focused primarily on UME administration and support but will support GME as needed.

Job Essentials:

Administratively supports  UME and GME operations to achieve strategic initiatives.  Collaborates with all Intermountain Healthcare Residency and Fellowship Programs to support advancement of each program. 

Partners with the Student Programs Department to act as a liaison between educational institutions, preceptors, students, HR, Talent Acquisition, Department Managers, and various Intermountain Healthcare departments to align and ensure compliance with academic and educational strategies. 

Under the direction of Medical Education leadership, coordinates population health initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization. 

May works in conjunction with GME leaders to ensure compliance of the organization’s ACGME accredited programs with ACGME requirements. 

May prepare and provide updated GME and UME activity reports as requested.

Confers as needed with collaborating universities and medical schools.   

Proactively works with Intermountain leaders to find creative solutions that increase diversity through our capacity to host students as a pipeline for our future workforce.

Participates in Continuous Improvement activities, including development and measurement of key performance indicators (KPIs). 

Establish timelines and project plans to achieve desired outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  • - or -

  • Three years of experience in human resources, student placement, or related field,

  • - and -

  • Experience managing and completing projects demonstrating a high degree of autonomy, organization, adaptability, and attention to detail.

  • Two years of professional experience in healthcare or education.

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications, negotiation, and public relations skills.

  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.

  • Experience creating and delivering written and verbal communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Health Care Administration, Public Relations, Organizational Behavior, or related field.  Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  • Professional experience in healthcare.

  • Experience in student placement programs.

  • Experience in student placement programs.

  • Experience in medical school processes, procedures, curriculum or in graduate medical education administration

  • Project management

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$26.84 - $42.28
