Job Summary:

The Academic Evaluator reports to the Associate Registrar and is responsible for evaluating and applying academic credits earned outside the institution to student records, maintaining the transfer credit database, assisting in updating program evaluations, and working with the Associate Registrar to process final graduation evaluations.

This position requires a detail orientated, independently motivated individual who can meet deadlines and work cooperatively with students, staff, and faculty. The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education student information systems, report development, and be highly organized.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process transfer credits to the institution, including external collegiate credit, AP, CLEP, International Baccalaureate, CASE, articulation agreements, etc.
  • Review graduation applicants for pending degree completion, coordinate with the Office of Student Involvement on graduation preparation events and activities, and with academic Departments to support students with missing requirements
  • Update Program Evaluations for incoming transfer students
  • Maintain the Transfer Credit Database of courses and credits accepted from other institutions, liaising with Department and Curriculum Committee chairs for approval
  • Guide student employees in departmental projects and tasks
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague Student Information System and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues for functional users in software applications
  • Sensitivity to the confidential nature of academic records
  • Familiarity with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ellucian Colleague Experience preferred
  • 2 years of indirect experience required, 2 years of direct experience preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Office, library, computer room
  • Typically sitting at a desk or table
  • Intermittently sitting, standing, stooping
  • Occasional evening or weekend events
