Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Coordinator for the College of Education - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Academic Coordinator will report to the Counselor Education Department chair and is responsible for essential duties regarding student service and program support. The Academic Coordinator serves as the primary point person for student admissions, registration, advisement, book adoptions, course schedule, graduate assistant and adjunct assignments, event planning, certification letters, space utilization projects, and facilitating with field placement coordination.

Consult with Department Chair to assign faculty and adjunct instructors to courses, develop schedule, and ensure scheduling needs are met.

Maintain database and coordinate registration processes for all master’s and doctoral tracks and programs.

Provide admission and recruitment support and preliminary advisement to all master’s, Ed.S., and doctoral students.

Advise doctoral program applicants and students on all program processes and deadlines (including admissions, admission to candidacy, comprehensive exams, dissertation proposal defense, dissertation defense).

Work hand-in-hand with Dean’s Office and Graduate College to prepare reports for GTA/GRA tuition reimbursement (GTA Inventory) and advise on benefits.

Schedule, organize, and participate in student interviews (mental health counseling, clinical rehabilitation counseling, school counseling, and doctoral program).

Plan and support hosted/on-campus conferences, recruitment events, and off-campus events (including communicating with venues and vendors to secure reservations and invoices).

Draft and certify letters on behalf of the Department Chair and Field Placement Coordinators, including those for Florida State License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) and Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) certification, as well as those for out-of-state applicants.

Coordinate with Legal and Provost’s Office regarding permissions and contracts related to event planning and field placement.

Assist in creation and development of contracts, reports, presentations and inter-departmental, internal and external communications, including regarding special grants and permissions, field placements, certification letters, and more.

Strong customer service experience and ability to handle multiple requests at once, stay organized, be detailed oriented, and provide a quality experience for our primary customers (students), faculty, and all internal/external parties.
