Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor 1. - Boca Raton, FL.
The Academic Advisor provides comprehensive academic advising and student support services to first- and second-year students, transfer students with fewer than 45 earned credit hours, and all undeclared undergraduate students. This position plays a critical role in promoting student success by assisting students with academic planning, career exploration, major selection, and navigating university resources.
Summary of responsibilities:
Serves as liaison to an assigned college or student support unit on campus.
Clears undergraduate registration holds and responds to email inquiries, and phone messages.
Assists with campus events, such as the Admission's Office open houses, University Expos, and other evening and weekend duties requiring an UAS advising presence.
In support of our FTIC and second-year students, this position will require some evening and virtual hours on a rotating basis.
Assist students with developing academic and career action plans, work with and support undecided students, students in academic difficulty, and students transitioning into their major of choice.
May teach the SLS freshman transition courses.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree in education, Student Affairs/Development, Counselor Education, Psychology, or a closely related field. One year of experience in advising, counseling, orientation, student services or related experience at a university is preferred.Graduate internships cab be applied toward one-year experience.
Demonstrates proficiency in working with computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, and Excel, is required.
The ability to communicate effectively and professionally is required Working knowledge of the Appreciative Advising model is strongly preferred.
Salary:
$55,000.00 Annually.Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP).
