Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to define and drive the strategy, positioning, and lifecycle of ABB’s offering portfolio for the Automotive market, with a particular focus on Assembly Solutions. You will ensure alignment with customer needs, market trends, and Business Line objectives and will be accountable for the long-term profitable growth of the assigned offering, from market analysis and product development through launch, commercialization, maintenance, and phase-out.

You will act as the key interface between the market and internal functions, including Sales, R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain Management, translating market needs into clear product requirements, business plans, roadmaps, and go-to-market strategies.

Core responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Leading market intelligence, customer-needs and competitive analysis to identify portfolio gaps, define market segmentation, positioning, value propositions, and new business opportunities.
  • Owning the offering strategy, business plan, and product roadmap, translating market requirements into technical and commercial specifications in close collaboration with Sales, R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Managing the complete offering lifecycle—from development and stage-gate approval through launch, enhancement, cost optimization, obsolescence, and phase-out—ensuring achievement of scope, timing, cost, investment, and payback targets.
  • Taking ownership of offering profitability by defining pricing strategies, reference prices, cost and margin targets, monitoring global sales and tender performance, and driving recovery actions when required.
  • Developing and implementing go-to-market plans, product launches, sales and tendering tools, and training activities, while supporting strategic opportunities, critical negotiations, and global or cross-border projects.

Qualifications for the role

  • You have several years of experience in Product Management, Portfolio Management, Business Development, or a comparable technical-commercial role within Automotive industrial automation, robotics, or a related technology environment.
  • You have a proven track record in product lifecycle management, including market analysis, roadmap definition, new product development, launch, pricing, profitability, and phase-out.
  • You demonstrate strong business and financial acumen and can translate customer and market requirements into clear business cases, technical specifications, and prioritized development plans.
  • You have strong analytical, strategic-thinking, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence international and cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • You hold a university degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline—or have equivalent professional experience
  • You are fluent in English and Spanish is highly recommended. Additional languages will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Automotive market, including its customer expectations, technology landscape, and project-specific requirements, is highly valued. Previous exposure to Assembly Solutions would be an advantage.
  • Travel requirements: 60-70%
