Key Responsibilities
Prepare passage plans, oversee safe navigation during watch, execute cargo and ballast operations, maintain bridge and GMDSS equipment, implement waste management, and manage medicine inventory and crew health records.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The 2nd Officer should have a strong grasp of company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Essential knowledge includes bridge operations, risk assessment, emergency procedures, cargo and ballast operations, and Medical Officer duties. Proficiency in watchkeeping, passage planning, bridge equipment maintenance, and waste management practices is required. Clear communication and adaptability to modern technology are essential.
Experience: Demonstrates leadership behaviors and reliability as an effective bridge team member, with proficiency in watchkeeping, voyage planning, and bridge equipment maintenance. Consistently supports cargo and ballast operations while understanding the importance of environmental regulation compliance.
