Position: 2nd Class Power Engineer
Location: Portage la Prairie, MB
Roquette is looking for a motivated and safety-conscious 2nd Class Power Engineer to assist in the operation and maintenance of critical plant systems, including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, plant and domestic water, fire suppression, and natural gas. You will support the Shift Engineer and carry out mechanical repairs as required.

Operate and maintain utilities and mechanical systems in a safe, efficient manner
Support isolation of equipment for service and repairs
Monitor and maintain air compressor, air dryer, and air intake systems
Maintain and operate refrigeration systems according to manufacturer specifications
Participate in issuing Confined Space Entry and Lockout Tagout (LOTO) permits
Assist with development of energy control procedures and safe work practices
Contribute to safety meetings, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation initiatives
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Roquette’s safety expectations
Support plant evacuations during fire or gas incidents
Respect all rules regarding safety, hygiene, quality, and environmental policies
Uphold confidentiality related to plant operations
Valid Class 2 Power Engineer license
5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience operating large utilities systems, including:
Power distribution
Steam generation
Vacuum systems
Compressed air
Water distribution
Fire protection
Refrigeration (Glycol-based systems)
Strong troubleshooting skills
Control room experience monitoring and coordinating complex processes
Maintenance knowledge to support plant reliability
Flexibility to cover shifts, sick days, and vacation as business needs arise
Ability to work under extreme conditions (hot, wet, cold, noisy, indoor/outdoor)
Physically able to climb ladders, catwalks, work at heights, and in confined spaces
Comfortable using PPE (respirators, SCBA, safety harnesses)
