You will also gather and document business requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and produce clear, high-quality documentation to support end-users, administrators, and developers. Key Responsibilities
Flow & Custom Development
- Design, develop, and optimize Salesforce Flows following best practices for scalability and maintainability.
- Build advanced custom solutions using APEX, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and other programmatic tools.
- Develop and maintain integrations with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs or middleware platforms.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects in Flows, APEX classes, and LWCs to ensure platform stability.
- Continuously optimize code and configurations for performance and scalability.
- Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to internal teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine business requirements.
- Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications and scalable solution designs.
- Participate in backlog grooming to ensure user stories are well-defined and prioritized.
- Document requirements, acceptance criteria, and design considerations clearly and thoroughly.
- Lead refinement workshops to understand objectives, current processes, and desired outcomes.
- Create business process models, workflow diagrams, and data flow maps using Lucidchart, Visio, or Draw.io.
- Develop and maintain end-user guides, admin manuals, SOPs, and training materials.
- Document Salesforce configurations, custom objects, workflows, reports, dashboards, and integrations.
- Ensure documentation remains current with platform updates and institutional process changes.
- Serve as a liaison between functional teams (Admissions, Student Success, Alumni Relations, Finance) and technical teams (Admins, Developers, IT).
- Work closely with Salesforce administrators, developers, and solution architects to define system functionalities and integrations.
Experience & Background
- 5+ years of Salesforce experience, including at least 2 years in a development role.
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer and/or Business Analyst in a Salesforce environment, preferably in Higher Education.
- Experience supporting enrollment, student records, advising, alumni relations, or advancement teams.
- Strong proficiency with Salesforce declarative tools (Flow, Process Builder).
- Advanced experience with APEX, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.
- Solid understanding of Salesforce data model, security model, and governor limits.
- Experience with REST/SOAP integrations and CI/CD tools (Git, Copado, Gearset).
- Familiarity with Salesforce documentation tools (Confluence, Google Docs, Lucidchart, Visio).
- Working knowledge of Salesforce APIs, Apex fundamentals, or MuleSoft (preferred but not required).
- Experience with Education Cloud, Student Success Hub, Experience Cloud, Admissions Connect, or HEDA.
- Strong understanding of Service Cloud, Omni‑Channel, Case Management, Knowledge, CTI, SMS, and Chat integrations.
- Knowledge of Salesforce best practices for scalability, performance, and secure development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with Salesforce releases.
