Wells Fargo is seeking aspiring Software Engineers to join the 2027 Technology Internship Program.
Program Overview:
The Wells Fargo Technology Internship Program provides participants with a 10-week experience designed to immerse students in real-world engineering, modern software development practices, and enterprise-scale technology at Wells Fargo. The program blends technical execution with business context, emphasizing innovation, velocity, and responsible technology development.
Participants will:
- Work hands-on with impactful, production-aligned projects
- Gain exposure to modern engineering practices and AI-enabled development workflows
- Participate in structured training, mentorship, and networking with senior technology leaders
In this role, your responsibilities as a Software Engineering Intern may include:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications, including enhancements, bug fixes, and new services across enterprise platforms
- Collaborate in Agile (Scrum / Kanban) teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable code
- Leverageenterprise-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Devin, etc.) and AI platforms to accelerate development, including:
- Generating unit and integration test cases aligned with Wells Fargo QA standards
- Assisting with code development, documentation, and refactoring within approved toolchain boundaries
- Supporting rapid prototyping and solution design exploration within sandbox/non-production environments
- Partner with senior engineers to review, validate, and govern AI-generated code to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, risk, and security standards
- Contribute to AI-augmented development workflows including automated documentation, code review assistance, and developer productivity tooling within approved SDLC processes
- Explore opportunities to integrate AI/ML capabilities into applications (e.g., intelligent automation, predictive insights, natural language interfaces) in alignment withModel Risk Management (MRM) guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of AI-assisted outputs while adhering to data handling and confidentiality policies
- Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and cloud-based applications
- Contribute to data engineering efforts, including data modeling, pipeline development, and analytics environments
- Support creation of reusable frameworks and apply modern design patterns across distributed systems
- Partner with architecture, product, and platform teams to support the technical evolution of services
- Languages/Frameworks: Java, .NET Core, Python, JavaScript (React, Node.js, Angular)
- Platforms: OpenShift, Azure, Google Cloud, APIs, Microservices
- Data: SQL, MongoDB, Data Pipelines, Analytics Tools
- Tools: GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, AI-assisted development tools, ML frameworks (TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas)
Program Duration: June 2027 - August 2027 (10 weeks)
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field with an expected graduation: December 2027 - June 2028
- Foundational knowledge in one or more: Java, Python, .NET, SQL, Cloud technologies
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and API development
- Experience with SDLC practices (CI/CD, testing, deployment)
- Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate challenges and recommend solutions
- Demonstrated exposure to AI or AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, code assistants)
- Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts and responsible AI usage
- Interest in how AI is transforming software engineering workflows and productivity
- Prior engineering internship experience
- Energetic self-starter who proactively takes initiative, acts with urgency, remains curious and has a genuine interest in learning and growth
- Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement
- Position will require onsite presence at one of the required locations listed below in a hybrid work schedule
- Must take and pass required technology skills assessment
