ESP Associates is seeking a Hazard Mitigation/Resilience Planner intern to work with our team in Morrisville, NC. This position works closely with Hazard Mitigation & Resilience Planning team members on full-service hazard mitigation and resilience planning projects for state, local and Tribal clients, as well as other stakeholders.
The Hazard Mitigation / Resilience Planning Intern will have the opportunity to support the following:
- Technical Hazard Mitigation/Resilience Planning Assistance
- Data Collection & Analysis to conduct Risk Assessments, Capability Assessments and Develop Mitigation/Resilience Strategies for Hazard Mitigation Plans and/or Resilience Plans
- Summarize results/report findings in report format
- Facilitate planning meetings, workshops and open public meetings
- Preparation of the physical/digital plan documents
- Project management: communication and coordination with participating jurisdictions, State Emergency Management Offices and FEMA
Requirements:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate in Planning or a related field
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience with plan/report preparation
- Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of federal and state hazard mitigation and resilience programs
- GIS experience
