About The Role 

FTI Consulting Brussels is looking for an intern to join our public affairs Technology, Media and Telecom team for a 6-month internship.

We specialise in strategic and integrated public affairs communications services advising multinational companies facing business-critical political, policy, regulatory or reputational challenges on how to engage with stakeholders including politicians, NGOs and the media in Brussels and beyond. 

In this role you will be part of a fast-growing team of experts who advise a broad range of clients at an EU, regional and global scale, active in the tech, media and telecoms space. Thus, a strong interest and/or prior knowledge on topics such as platform regulation, cybersecurity, data privacy and protection, Artificial Intelligence, Media or Telecoms policy, among others, will be a considerable advantage. 

As an Intern, you will work on different client accounts, support senior colleagues, and be involved in general day-to-day support of operations. 

 

What You'll Do  

  • Deliver to clients: Monitor institutional and regulatory developments; conduct EU policy analysis and research on relevant TMT issues; draft reports and present findings to clients; support with day-to-day deliverables; participate in strategy sessions for clients. 

  • Build the business: Provide support on the development of new business opportunities, including research and contribution to the development of proposals; contribute to wider marketing initiatives to positively position the firm and practice in the market. 

  • Team involvement: Contribute to knowledge-building and sharing within the team and to the development of relevant materials and resources; participate in values-based/D&I activities. 

  • Networking: Attend and report on relevant industry events; build a strong network within European institutions, think tanks, academia and others.

You will be part of a dynamic and multinational team of experts based in Brussels and you will be able to work closely with professionals within FTI Consulting’s global network.

Internships are remunerated and run in 6-month cycles. It is our intention to convert successful intern candidates to full-time consultants at the end of their tenure should their performance meet our expectations and business conditions be conducive.

What You Will Need to Succeed   

Basic Qualifications 

  • Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree required. Studies in the fields of political science, international relations, EU policy, journalism, law or related areas are a plus. 

  • Proven skills and/or interest in politics, public affairs, advocacy, issues and reputation management. 

  • A keen interest and/or prior experience on tech, media and telecoms sector/policies. 

  • Excellent English with one or two additional European languages preferable. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior Internship experience within EU institutions, trade association or similar experience desired. 

  • Proactiveness in communication and problem-solving. 

  • Professional demeanour and presence, including the ability to handle confidential information. 

  • Good organisation and presentation skills with a keenness for client and project management. 

  • Ability to digest and summarise information to key internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Team player who can deliver in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Resourcefulness, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
