Verisk's Summer Internship Program runs July 1st – September 30th. This is a paid, full‑time opportunity (40 hours per week). Participation requires being located near your assigned office, as the program follows a hybrid model with at least 2 days per week on-site.
We are looking for a two Data Analyst Intern to support our Core Lines organization in Strategic Actuarial Operations Team.
Purpose of the team
The Strategic Actuarial Operations Team helps U.S. insurance companies by forecasting future loss cost changes across various lines of business and states. Our work spans General Liability, Businessowners, Personal Auto, Commercial Auto, Dwelling, and Homeowners. We collaborate closely with teams across Verisk, contributing to innovative projects and delivering valuable solutions to our clients. Additionally, we focus on process improvements by automating existing workflows and creating visualizations of our calculations to enhance efficiency and clarity.
Purpose of the role
- Analyze historical insurance data to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Calculate projected loss cost changes for the upcoming year across specific lines of business
- Present analyses and results to the Actuarial Team
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports to U.S. regulators and clients
- Take action to introduce improvements to your teams’ services through new technologies, improved processes, documentation, and training
- Develop and maintain automations and documentation for repeatable design patterns, to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time.
What you will learn?

- Ability to analyze large data to identify trends and key loss drivers
- Practical experience in data validations, data quality assessment and preparation of datasets for analysis
- Ability to translate analytical results into clear, structured business recommendations and insights
- Business communication and presentation skills
- You will be familiar with actuarial concepts and insurance pricing principles
- Working with tools such as Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables) or SQL for business data extraction
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure positive internal & external customer experiences through timely and accurate preparation of analytical products, including loss cost reviews and filings, as well as responses to questions from US-based insurers and regulators
- Collaborate with other actuaries, data scientists and business analysts to improve data quality, internal processes and procedures and product development
- Extract and review insurance data by writing and executing queries in SQL as well as actively lead implementation of process improvements and automated techniques in related data management, data quality and other data analysis functions
- Recommend and assist in developing and implementing new or revised methodologies, technologies, products and services
- Understand and enhance own knowledge about the structure of insurance datasets, the US P&C insurance business including coverages, various rating components and basic actuarial concepts, to maintain high level of data quality
- Understand and use complex mathematical formulas, particularly in the area of advanced statistics
- Support analytical work, including data management, historical loss analysis, pricing, claims reserving, etc.
- Enrolled in the last year of a Bachelor's or Master’s program in Business, Economics, Project Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Fluency in English is required (at least B2 spoken and written)
- Analytical thinking and attention to details
- Knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, conditional formatting)
- Familiarity with basic SQL and/or Python would be a plus
- Attention to detail to follow elaborate instructions and to spot even little differences in data
- Good presentation and public speaking skills with focus on internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands and prioritize workloads while managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal/collaboration skills.
The Intern Program is not eligible for work visa sponsorship. If you will require work visa sponsorship after completing your degree, you do not meet the basic requirements of the summer intern role.
As well as our Internship requires from you attendance in the Cracow office 2-3 days per week in the full-time working model. If you will be not able to manage our work arrangement you do not meet basic requirements of the summer intern role.
