Entry Requirements – Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above
- Essential: Maths and English
- Beneficial subjects: ICT, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology

- 3 A Levels
- or equivalent

What You’ll Do
As a School/College Leaver Software Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on real-world automation and software projects. You’ll learn by doing, gradually building confidence and responsibility as your skills grow.
You will:
- Learn hands-on software engineering skills, including coding, debugging, and system design
- Support the development of software used to control robotic and automated lab systems
- Assist with testing, maintaining, and improving existing software solutions
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of software, electrical, and mechanical engineers
- Develop strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills to kick-start your career
What We’re Looking For
- A strong curiosity and interest in software, technology, or automation
- Passion for coding, problem-solving, or digital systems
- Motivated, proactive, and keen to learn
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Optional but Advantageous
- Participation in coding clubs, robotics clubs, or STEM competitions
- Personal coding projects (apps, games, scripts, websites, etc.)
- Any experience with programming languages or software tools
- Work experience or taster sessions in engineering or technical environments
