Commodities Trading Internship Programme
Four-Month Internship: 07 July – 06 November 2026
Houston (full-time, on site)
About the Internship
We are seeking a Weather Researcher intern to join our Houston office, where you'll apply advanced scientific techniques, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to impactful problems in commodities and energy markets.
You will develop and direct your research in collaboration with experienced quants, Power & Gas traders, and weather scientists, with the opportunity to see the impact of your ideas. This role is an exceptional opportunity for those with interest in commodities markets and eager to build domain expertise.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be available to commence their four-month internship from July 07, 2026.

- Close learning and mentorship from senior Front Office professionals, including direct exposure to Desk Heads.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the trading desk to identify opportunities where data science tools can deliver value.
- Research and apply open-source deep learning and machine learning weather models to the real world, solving high-impact problems in power & gas trading.
- Clearly and effectively communicate your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work on projects relevant to the desk.
About You
You are a curious, driven individual with a strong research background and an interest in applying your skills in a practical, high-impact environment. You are looking for a collaborative culture that values experimentation over skepticism and provides the mentorship, autonomy, and support to grow.
- Master’s or pursuing a PhD in a quantitative or hard science discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences).
- Proven experience with deep learning and machine learning, particularly in developing or applying open-source weather models.
- Proficiency in Python coding skills; SQL and Excel knowledge is a plus.
- Business-level English proficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- High attention to detail and confidence working with large datasets.
- A strong interest in commodities markets and weather research.
- Demonstrable experience in time-series data analysis.
- Previous exposure to commodities or trading environments is advantageous.
