2025 Summer IT Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern

Role and Scope of Position:
An entry-level IT position in which the incumbent will shadow and learn from seasoned IT professionals on various aspects of the business. Trainee may be placed in one functional area of IT or rotated among various departments dependent on business need and/or trainee’s education and experience. This position is within a job family progression with the expectation that incumbent will remain in this trainee role for no more than 36 months.

AI Intern – Information Technology Team

Location: Remote/Hybrid – Eversource Energy

Duration: 6 months

Reports To: AI Manager – Julie Nee

About the Role

Eversource Energy’s AI team is seeking a motivated AI Intern to support the expansion of AI initiatives across the organization. This role will focus on streamlining AI intake processes, participating in AI Custom Build Pilot Sprints, and assisting in the launch and support of Microsoft Copilot. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about AI, business process automation, and digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

1. AI Intake Coordination

• Assist in managing the AI intake process, transitioning requests from the AI Coordinator to the appropriate teams.
• Review and categorize AI use case submissions to align with business objectives.
• Engage with stakeholders to schedule kick offs, document initial solution architecture and move the use cases through the governance process.
• Maintain an intake tracking system to manage request prioritization and progress.

2. AI Custom Build Pilot Sprints

• Actively participate in AI pilot sprints, working alongside AI developers and business teams.
• Support data gathering across custom build pilots.
• Document findings, user feedback, and potential enhancements.

3. Microsoft Copilot Implementation & Support

• Provide prompting training support for teams adopting Microsoft Copilot.
• Assist in creating user guides, FAQs, and best practices for Copilot usage.
• Monitor Copilot adoption, gather feedback, and escalate issues as needed.
• Work with IT and AI teams to troubleshoot and enhance Copilot workflows and documentation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Business, or a related field.
• Strong analytical skills with an interest in AI applications.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical teams to bridge communication gaps.
• Experience with data organization, documentation, or project management is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Power Platform, Excel) and AI-driven applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Any AI experience is a plus.
