Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. This internship will be based on-site at our headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
You will:
- Develop state-of-the-art, multi-modality and multi-task Perception models
- Leverage deep Vision-Language Models (VLMs) or Large-Language Models (LLM) to improve perception system on an autonomous vehicle
You have:
- Pursuing a Masters or PhD program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a similar technical field of study
- Research experience in machine learning, deep learning, Foundational Models and/or LLMs
- Basic software programming or scripting skills (Python, C/C++)
We prefer:
- Publications in top-tier conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, IROS, CoRL, ACL, or EMNLP
- Experience with multi-modality and multi-task models or vision-language models and LLM reasoning
- Prior industry experience (including internships) in software engineering and computer vision / machine learning
