Are you ready to gain hands-on experience with an industry-leading real estate company? Essex Property Trust, an S&P 500 real estate investment trust (REIT), invites highly motivated college students to join our 8- to 10-week, paid summer internship program in the Marketing department. This is your chance to work on meaningful projects that impact real-world business decisions while developing valuable skills in the dynamic world of real estate.
This is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $26.00 per hour.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Marketing & Communications Intern, you’ll collaborate with multiple departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of how marketing functions within a top-tier real estate company. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Support Communications Initiatives – Conduct competitive research for Reputation Management Benchmarking to help Essex maintain its industry leadership.
- Enhance Community Marketing – Assist with property map projects, ensuring our marketing materials are visually appealing and up to date.
- Contribute to Digital Marketing – Audit advertising and lead generation efforts, and update website content to enhance user experience.
- Engage in Multimedia Production – Get hands-on experience with video, photography, and virtual tour projects to showcase our properties in the best light.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration – Work with teams across Asset Management, Operations, and Finance to understand the integration of ESG factors into real estate decision-making.
- Take on Special Projects – Support various initiatives as they arise, gaining a well-rounded understanding of real estate marketing.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Education – You must be enrolled in a four-year accredited undergraduate program, majoring in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Rising juniors (Class of 2027) and seniors (Class of 2026) are encouraged to apply.
- Skills & Attributes – Strong communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are a must! You should be detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Work Environment – This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in our Irvine office three days a week (Monday – Wednesday).

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $27.40 per hour. New hires generally start between $20.00 - $23.08 per hour. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
