We are excited to offer an opportunity for a diverse group of talented 2nd and 3rd-year PhD students to join the 2025 Schonfeld Early Engagement (SEE) Summit – PhD Datathon. This two-day interactive event will show you how to apply your academic skills to the real world of finance.
The program will take place on Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, 2025, in New York City. Travel and lodging expenses will be covered for students traveling from outside NYC.
At the SEE Summit, you will have the chance to participate in an interactive datathon using real-world datasets. You will work alongside your peers and Schonfeld portfolio managers/researchers for a chance to win a cash prize for your research and gain early eligibility in our recruitment process.
Throughout the event, you will gain valuable insights by engaging with senior leaders, networking with other graduates, and immersing yourself in the culture and atmosphere of Schonfeld.
After attending the SEE Summit, you will have acquired valuable knowledge about our business, built lasting relationships, and felt prepared to apply for our summer internships—all while experiencing the welcoming community at Schonfeld.
What you need:
- To be pursuing your PhD degree in a STEM field (ideally with 2 years left in your academic program)
- Programming knowledge in Python
- While finance knowledge is a plus, it is not required to apply
[Accepting applications through February 21]

What We Do
Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a global multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across quantitative, fundamental equity and tactical trading strategies. We have created a unique structure to provide global portfolio managers with autonomy, flexibility and support to best enable them to maximize the value of their businesses. Over the last 30+ years, Schonfeld has successfully capitalized on inefficiencies and opportunities within the equity markets. We have developed and invested heavily in proprietary technology, infrastructure and risk analytics. Our portfolio exposure has expanded across the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as multiple asset classes and products. We look for ways to align the interests of investors, investment professionals and the firm, highlighted by the opportunity for investment professionals to co-invest in our funds and their individual strategies.
