Position Summary:
AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Lockport, LA that is the leading provider of quality construction, manufacturing, engineering, repair, and conversion products and services to the marine industry.
A 1st Class Outside Machinist is responsible for installing, aligning, and maintaining shipboard machinery and mechanical systems using blueprints, precision tools, and hand tools in a shipyard environment.
Essential Functions:
- Install vessel machinery through the use of blueprints and hand tools
- Read and interpret standard construction drawings, specifications, and other technical publications
- Apply knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants
- Familiarize with all aspects of craft-specific marine construction from design through installation and operational testing
- Perform tasks related to air controls and tubing bending
- Conduct operational testing of installed systems
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of marine experience or 1 years of continuous Company experience
- Good working knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants
- Knowledge of how to use necessary tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, torch, etc.)
- Some experience or background in welding
Skills Required
- Minimum of 1 year of marine experience or 1 year of continuous company experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications
- Working knowledge of system start-up procedures, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plants
- Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, torch and other hand/precision tools
- Some experience or background in welding
- Experience with tubing bending, air controls, and operational testing of installed systems
