Own and deliver control, data acquisition, interlock, and test systems for large experimental laser facilities. Lead requirements, architecture, software development, integration, verification, validation, commissioning, and lifecycle support. Coordinate sprint planning, task assignments, releases, system interfaces, test campaigns, and operator feedback across multidisciplinary engineering teams. Develop Python and LabVIEW solutions, integrate instrumentation and communication protocols, troubleshoot hardware and software, and implement automated, regression, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Leads systems engineering for an inertial fusion energy program, maintaining integrated technical baselines, requirements traceability, architecture, interfaces, documentation, risk mitigation, verification, and specialty engineering. Coordinates technical decisions across cross-functional teams and supports the development, integration, testing, and activation of complex facilities and systems. The role also provides technical oversight, configuration management, stakeholder communication, and project planning for large-scale energy infrastructure.

This 12-week onsite internship involves supporting electrical, pulsed-power, control systems, hardware, simulation, manufacturing, and other engineering projects for laser-driven inertial fusion systems. Interns work with expert mentors on real-world technical challenges, applying engineering skills through design, analysis, modeling, research, and development activities. The role is based at Xcimer Energy headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
